Welcome to the Academy Band
The Surbiton Royal British Legion Youth Academy Band was established in 2024 to provide a welcoming entry point for young musicians with little or no musical experience.
Who Can Join?
Our Academy Band welcomes young people aged 7 and upwards with none or little musical experience. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to learn music and be part of a supportive community.

What You'll Learn
The Academy Band provides comprehensive training in both music and marching band discipline

★ Brass, woodwind, and percussion instruction
★ Basic drill and marching techniques

Start your musical journey with us in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.
2️⃣
Learn & Develop
Receive professional instruction and develop your musical and marching skills
3️⃣
Advance to Main Band
Progress to the main band or continue with Academy for extra learning time.
Recruitment Schedule
We recruit new Academy Band members twice through the year, Janaury and September. This approach ensures current members have adequate time to learn and develop before advancing to the main band.
